The masterfully cooked fish and crispy golden chips consistently receive high praise. Many reviewers specifically mention how the new ownership has revitalized the quality without losing the heart of the takeaway's charm. The homemade Chinese chicken curry served with chips is a standout favorite, evoking nostalgic memories for some, taking them back to the coast. The friendly staff enhance the experience, creating a welcoming atmosphere that encourages repeat visits.
Some patrons have voiced concerns about the consistency of the chips, with past reviews mentioning that they used to be dry and tasteless. However, recent changes under new ownership seem to be addressing these complaints. As a cash-only establishment, some customers find it inconvenient, especially in an era leaning towards card payments. The peak hours on Friday evenings see limited seating, leading to longer waits, which can be off-putting for those looking for a quick meal.
I took a bad picture cause I want to indulge in it as soon as possible, reasonable price for good amount of delicious food
Just called in for two mini fish, chips and curry sauce meals, cooked perfectly, tasty, and big portions, been going there for 50 years, and recent new owners ,last 18 months, are still giving excellent value for money and quality food, you could have fed 4 people with a couple of rounds of bread and butter each with what we had, fantastic as usual
Newcomer to area, this seems by far best fish and chip shop around so far. They do those amazingly special chicken curries with chips that remind me of beach towns in South Wales.
I had my usual Sunday feast, it was lovely! The staff were friendly and polite. Thank you.
Been today to get fish and chips for my Nana's Saturday treat. She says it's the best fish and chips she's had in a long time. We stopped using the dancing octopus as the chips were really dry and tasteless now it's been taken over by new owners it's back to 10/10. My little boy even got some sweeties! Staff were really friendly and food delicious. Thank you 😊
Lovely staff, delicious food, great prices, free off road parking. (The chips 🥰)
Best chip shop in the area staff are accommodating and the food is always on point with good portion size at a great price *EDIT* THIS IS NOW A 2⭐️ CHIPPY This chippy has been bought out and the new owner is very hands on. His attitude is a little rude and can be ignorant towards women as was the case with my wife. The staff has changed and so the usual warmth and chit chat you were greeted with is no longer there and the food is substandard at best the oil has changed I think the potatoes have been changed and if you drive past after lunchtime opening you will see cooked food left in the warmers, obviously to be sold when they reopen at 4pm for the evening trade. All in all a fantastic chippy that has gone to the dogs, such a shame. We will not use here anymore and previously we wouldn't go anywhere else as this WAS the best chip shop in the area
